Livox Avia 2 NF at a glance
The Livox Avia 2 NF is the fanless version of the Avia 2. Optics, laser and measurement performance are identical: the same 1535 nm fibre laser, the same switchable dual mode with 80° × 80° in normal and 15° × 15° in focus mode, and the same range of 400 m at 5% reflectivity or ≥ 800 m in focus mode at 10%.
The difference is cooling. Without a fan, the only moving part inside the housing is gone — which lowers maintenance effort and removes one potential cause of failure. At 146 × 113 × 103 mm the sensor is around 36 mm shallower, at ≤ 1.5 kg slightly lighter, and it draws 45 W instead of 50 W in continuous operation.
In exchange there is a constraint worth planning around: passive cooling limits continuous run time as ambient temperature rises. If the internal temperature gets too high the sensor stops and resumes by itself once it has cooled down. Livox therefore requires mounting on a thermally conductive metal plate at least 3 mm thick, with at least 50 mm of clearance all around and 150 mm above. If you need sustained full load at high temperatures, the fan version is the better fit.
