Livox Avia 2 at a glance
The Livox Avia 2 is an industrial LiDAR built around 1535 nm fibre laser technology instead of the usual 905 nm diode. That wavelength sits considerably further into the infrared and is scattered less by rain, fog and dust — the sensor copes with weather better than classic 905 nm models.
Its defining feature is the switchable dual mode. In normal mode it covers a wide 80° × 80° field of view and captures 350,000 points per second at 400 m on 5% reflectivity — equivalent to roughly 600 m at 10%. In focus mode it concentrates the same laser power into 15° × 15° and reaches ≥ 800 m — so one piece of hardware covers both area surveillance and targeted long-range detection.
Accuracy between 5 and 400 m is ≤ 5 cm, precision ≤ 4 cm (1σ). Three echo modes (strongest, first, dual) and the non-repetitive scan pattern mean partially obscured targets behind vegetation or fencing are still captured cleanly. The housing is rated IP66 and the fan IP55, with an operating range from −20 °C to +65 °C.
